Bringing Creativity to Charitable Giving
Context
When I joined Impact Lab (AAX Exchange), they were actively expanding into the Taiwan market. We established a Pro Bono Program with ELLE Taiwan and conceived an interactive event for anyone to mint and collect NFTs. This idea not only allows ELLE to deepens engagement with existing customers but also helps us enhance our brand awareness. Additionally, people can support the SPCA and contribute to animal welfare while minting NFTs.

I was invited to join this team as a lead UX designer while the team is incubating an impactful NFT project in the Impact Lab.
Design Highlights
We chose MetaMask as the primary wallet. It provides an intuitive interface that simplifies the process of managing ETH and other compatible assets, making it easier for users to engage with cryptocurrencies and dApps.
To promote the exchange, I strategically incorporated brand visibility on certain pages and attracted users through rewards.
Users who are unfamiliar with wallet creation can read our beginner-friendly articles in the Newbie Academy, which guide them step by step in setting up their wallets.
Exclusive connections with idols, minting secret messages for important person that they must unlock to view, minting NFTs that turn into raffle tokens, and donating to animal charities simultaneously during the minting process.
We encourage people to make donations to animal charities while minting, giving them an additional layer of meaning.
The 8-bit pixel visual style and vibrant colors require me to carefully consider text readability and how to arrange Chinese and English within limited text boxes.

The team started with a kickoff meeting
It was a pleasure working with multiple phenomenal people as pro bono partnerships. Before starting the project, I held a kickoff meeting to ensure proper introductions and alignment among team members. This opened up a dialogue to tap into the team's collective expertise, generate valuable insights, and establish our goals and vision for the project.

Challenge
How can we create NFT rarity and incentives to attract people?
The entire campaign is divided into two phases: pre-sale and public sale. The roles involved are complex, making it challenging to establish a smooth process and clear rules.
How can we "educate" the general public who knows nothing about NFTs?
Know the user behaviour & perspectives
Due to limited time and resources, the most effective way to reach our target audience right now is by attending blockchain and Web3 events and connecting with potential users. I spoke with individuals who had zero knowledge of Web3 as well as those with experience in minting and collecting NFTs.
Key findings
People don't fully understand how the NFT system works, including creating a wallet and the trading process.
The fan economy is effective; fans are willing to spend money to gain a unique connection with their idols.
Fans are willing to participate in events for their idols, even if it requires time to learn.
When the NFT have resale value, people are more likely to mint it.
The framework have gradually taken shape through brainstorming meetings.
I used scenario mapping to outline the complex situations for each different role, and then built a user flow to ensure that team members have a crystal clear understanding of the overall structure. It helped us clarify the specific responsibilities of each team member at key points and gain insights into the emotions and motivations of multiple users throughout their interactions.

We plan to launch a pre-sale minting platform during the ELLE offline event, which will last for a month. Mobile devices will be the primary means of participation, but we also need desktop-sized designs to accommodate online participators.

Multi-tier rarity rules
We’ve developed a system of 4 smart contracts, each managing NFTs for white tokens of distinct rarity levels: with celebrity's signature, VIP, Love messages and lucky draws. These contracts define the rules, and rarity of each tokens, creating a more engaging and valuable experience for users.
